Please read Bishop Conley's Prayer to end abortion

In 1995, the recently beatified Pope John Paul II wrote these words in his encyclical,

Evangelium vitae:

"To all the members of the Church, the people of life and for life, I make this most urgent appeal, that together we may offer this world of ours new signs of hope, and work to ensure that justice and solidarity will increase and that a new culture of human life will be affirmed, for the building of an authentic civilization of truth and love."

And, so as the "people of life and for life" let us continue to pray for an "authentic civilization of

truth and love."

Join Bishop Conley in nation-wide fast on Friday, March 30

Many bishops in the United States are asking Catholics to fast for an end to religious persecution, on Friday, March 30. Bishop Conley will be fasting that day. He invites you to join him in this week's Denver Catholic Register column.

But if we want to be like Jesus Christ, we should realize that the power of sound argument pales in comparison to the power of our spiritual sacrifices—of our prayers and of our fasting.  The persecution of Catholics in America is the result of sin—and offering penance, in union with Christ’s death on the cross, liberates us from that sin.  We should pray, fast and sacrifice because these actions inspire the conversion of our own hearts and the conversion of others—and conversion, not force, argument or coercion, will end the injustices Catholics are facing.” - Bishop Conley

In this issue, I will start with his response to my last email, which I will first print in its entirety, and then I will reprint his email with my comments interspersed between and betwixt his

How to Discuss Abortion With 'Pro-Choice' Friends
(1001)May 6 issue feature on pro-life-talk tips.
After a disheartening and unsettling discussion about abortion with friends and family via Facebook, I began to ponder: "Will conversations about abortion always end in anger and hurt feelings?"
